    Well I ended up ringing Capital One to ask them directly if me having no credit at all would be a problem. They said the card was designed for people building or rebuilding there credit.

    Anyway I was accepted and should have my details within 7 days! :)

    I am surprised that nobody advised you to approach your own bank. I am assuming you hold a current account? and that your salary is paid into?

    I did try with my own bank (Halifax) but was declined.

    I wasn't given a reason, after I applied online it just said we have our own scoring system which you haven't passed (or words to that effect).
