My Sony laptop's wireless connection has suddenly stopped working. On booting up the WLAN green light comes on but then goes off and no networks are available to be connect to.
Is there anything I can do to try and cure it, or is the network card not working and I now have to purchase a dongle?
Help and advice please.
Thanks.
Laptop is Sony VGN-NR38E, Vista, Router is Netgear DG834G.

Go into the Network and Sharing Center. Click on Change adapter settings. Can you see an icon for your wireless adapter? What does it say against it?How do I add a signature?0

I am using the laptop in question wired to the router at the moment.
When I go into the Network and Sharing center I cannot see the Change Adapter settings button or any icon for my wireless adapter.
Sorry if I am being thick.0 -
Try Manage Network Connections.How do I add a signature?0

Hmmmm I have had a similar problem in the past, it turned out there was a little slide switch on the front of the laptop which turned the wireless thingy on and off and I must have accidentally caught the switch.
Oh how I laughed when I eventually found out0 -
Under Manage Network connections there is an icon for Wireless Network Connection which has red cross 'not connected'.
I know about the slide switch at the front and it is not anything to do with that.0 -
Does it say Enabled or Disabled? How do I add a signature?0

It is enabled and gives me the option to disable it under right-click menu.0

Check in Device Manager to see if the wireless network adapter has a red x or yellow triangleHow do I add a signature?0

No red x or yellow triangle, device is working properly

The only other thing I can suggest is to try updating the drivers (Device Manager > wireless adapter >> properties)How do I add a signature?0
