No, rent is paid up on time.

I did tell the agent that I might not be able to afford the rent if they attempted to block my housing allowance application.
Since then I have mailed back and assured the agent that I will have no problems paying my rent that is due in 2 days.

The agent has pretty poor English, so I often wonder if she fully understands what I write. The quality of my written English doesn't help the cause though !!

A quick point to add. When I moved into the property, I wasn't actually working and I made this pretty clear when I viewed the room and moved in.

A couple of weeks later I started working part time. I havent been able to get a second part time job, so now I am looking for full time work. Hence the housing benefit application.

How the agent thought I was going to pay the rent when I specifically stated I wasnt working, God only knows !

But you have paid the rent and on time, which is really all that the landlord is concerned about.

Yes, I do have a rental agreement.

There is no address on the contract for service of notice and the property owners names aren't on it either, just the agent.

So have you given a copy of the tenancy agreement to the LHA benefits folk and asked if that meets their requirements?

Do you realise that without an address for the serving of notice, the LL is not entitled to collect any rent? Until such time as they provide an address, when you have to pay the back rent as well.

No I hadn't given my contract over to the LHA.

So, let me clarify, I don't have to pay rent if the contact/address details of the landlord are not on my contract?

I might have to follow this up tomorrow as it's my day off.

Well the starting point is to get a photocopy of your contract to them tomorrow. Take the original with you andf get them to sign a receipt to say they have received the photocopy.

No. They are not required to give your LL's address or contact details.

They are required to give you an address for the serving of notices (that could be the agent's address or any other in the UK). Without that you are not obliged to pay rent.

But if they supply in say two month's time, and you will need to pay the rent for the two months.

What do you want to achieve? Are you looking to stay put? Or do you want to leave? Can you (keep) paying your rent until your claim for LHA is met?

Basically I am happy to stay put, without the agent/landlord getting wind of claiming benefits.
Rent is due tomorrow and paying is no problem.

If they do get wind of me claiming benefits and offer me money to move out again I will happily do it, although I will see if I can push for more money !!
