Dorothy Perkins Default

Options
Wonder if somebody could give some advice.

I've had a Dorothy Perkins Store Card operated by Santander for many many years now and have always been satisfied with the service. I occupationally use my card to grab and bargain in the sale or if I desperately need something - always paid off in full with I receive my statement. However, back in April I used my card to purchase some items in Topman for my grandson, good came to £24.00 and I intended to pay it off when my statement arrived. However my statement did not arrive for weeks after and shortly after I returned home from my 2 weeks holiday at the start of June I received a notice of default from Santander and a £12 missed payment charge. The letter stated that they could take legal action and that I had broken all the terms and conditions. Does anyone have any advice? I have since paid everything outstanding on the card to bring my account back into working order. I did call Santander and they told me that they had placed a block on my card until payment was received, however since my full balance payment had not yet been processed through their systems nothing could be done at that point! I have never missed a payment with Dorothy Perkins ever and keep all my Credit Cards up to date, I am now worried that this will have an adverse effect on my Credit Report.

It's not the end of the world. At worst, you have one late payment marker on your file. And it's worth checking to see if they've even done that.

So unless you're applying for a mortgage in the next couple of months, I wouldn't worry too much.

In isolation a single one month late payment marker will have no lasting effect on your credit record - its significance will soon fade for other lenders. Anyone can make a mistake or have a statement go missing in the post
