Car Insurance a puzzle!!!

Hi
I have just bought a comprehensive car insurance from Admiral. 3 days later I recieved a call saying that I done have a hire car insurance meaning if my car is stolen or involved in an accident and is being repaired I wouldn't receive a hire car immediately for 3 weeks.
As I understand that hire car is part of the comprehensive insurance isnt it?
Is it necessary to pay all these extra charges on the car insurance.
Is there a comprehensive information that explains everything about CAR INSURANCE and this extortionately charging market?

.....As I understand that hire car is part of the comprehensive insurance isnt it?...
No.
Check the policy wording, but usually the policy will only provide a courtesy car (subject to availibility/conditions etc), whilst your car is at a garage being repaired. Even that is not a "compulsory" component of "comprehensive" cover.0 -
My insurance will only provide a car if my car is in for repairs.
If it looks like a writeoff they wont supply one.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Hi Angelking
You do not have to purchase Admiral's Hire Car cover, it is completely up to you. If you have an accident and the car goes in for body work, the garage will usually provide you with a 'courtesy car' for the duration of the repair. If you are not offered this, then there are plenty of body shops who will.
If you have an accident and the vehicle is deemed beyond economical repair (aka write off) or the vehicle is stolen, then this is when it may be useful to have Admiral's Hire Car cover.
Personally i said No, as i would make do in the unlikely event that my car is written off or is stolen, but your circumstances may be different.0
