Cancelling breakdown cover

I currently have RAC cover which was due to renew this month - it says that monthly payments are from 17th June (yesterday).

Am I still entitled to cancel even though it is after the monthly payments are due to come out? I know there is something about a 10 or 14 day cool off period, but I'm not sure if it applies to renewals? The letter was sent on 7th June, and I received it on approx the 11th - would any cool off period be from the 7th, when I received it, or when the renewal was due?

Hoping someone might have some advice!

I received a letter from the RAC, completely in breach of the FSA guidelines. No information on how to cancel, just telling me it will renew, and I have to do nothing. Even the renewal price wasn't clear. Personally, I'd be inclined to tell them you didn't want to renew, although if you recieved the letter previously it would be more difficult. If the letter had been lost./delayed you would have a better case, particuarly as the letter is so poor and they have a good idea it wouldn't stand up to a complaint to the FOS.

They aren't that clear are they! After a bit of investigation (which on reflection I could have done before posting, I blame a very long day in work!!) for online financial type products it is 14 days cool off period, and I think it goes from the contract start date (which would be the date of renewal).

Arguable if you ring them the day you recieve the delayed mail.
