Halifax

i tried the advice of setting up lots of little savings accounts online to deal with a budget and everything has been good. I have now gone to log onto internet banking and they have suspended my access.

they tell me i cannot have it reinstated and that i am to take time off work to go to a branch with 2 forms of ID>
i am hold now to a manager, they are telling me they don't know why its been suspended and i cant have it reinstated over the phone

    Send them a complaint in writing, signed for.

    Tell them what you expect them to do. Also request compensation for the time you have to take off work.

    May not result in much but at least it takes them time to investigate and reply

    Obviously they think you have broken a rule somewhere.

    If you have so many accounts, it maybe that you have forgotten a password and tried too many times to get into one and so the suspension kicks in automatically.

    You are just subject to a random ID check - - take your passport/driving licence and a recent utility bill into a Branch as they requested. They are open on Saturday mornings if you find it difficult to get to a Branch during the week.

    forgot i had written this.
    I made a complaint to internet banking, they spoke to fraud who said they wouldn't reinstate the access and still demanded i go to the branch.

    I asked for a manager, and it was still adamant i wouldnt regain access until i went to the branch.
    I asked for a higher manager and explained that
    a) i was following budgeting advice from LLoyds Tsb and here (ie piggy banking), why did they offer such advice then stop access when someone takes them up on it

    She wanted to know why i had so many accounts, i said they were all clearly named, eg petrol, groceries, spending money etc.

    She asked why they hadnt been used recently until i said i was paying off the overdraft first. There was no point in separating the money into pots while i was paying them £1 a day and was now in a position to start this budget i had spent hours working on.

    She was still going on about going on about going to the branch with ID to have 'a chat with a staff member.' I said i dont need a chat, im not a child, im just trying to manage my accounts.
    I asked if she was asking me to prove who i was with asking for ID, and she said this wasn't the case, my identity wasn't the problem.

    So i asked specifically what the problem was, due to the fact i explained why i had so many account,s
    bottom line is, she had to back down and reinstated my internet banking with immediate effect
