How do I find a Mortgage Broker? Is there things I need to look out for that are exceptionally good or exceptionally dodgy? Do I pay them?
Thanks in advance.

Ask friends and relatives for a recommendation. Failing that, try https://www.unbiased.co.uk, switching off the email/website only option so you get a full list for your area, not just the ones who pay for the big adverts.
Whole market brokers will pick from deals which pay them a commission. They may also charge you a fee. They will not look at direct to lender offers like HSBC, Yorkshire BS or Post Office.
An independent broker will agree a fee with you. If he uses a commission paying deal this will be used to subsidise your fee. He will also look at direct deals where no commission is payable.
Avoid national estate agency chains. They often work to a limited panel, charge a fee and get commission and want to sell you single-tied insurance products and conveyancing services at a higher cost than you could find yourself.I am a mortgage broker. Just to re-iterate the last paragraph kingstreet said....
Stay the hell out of the Corporate Estate Agents!!! Their Advisors work from very limited panels and are heavily targetted so will pull all kinds of tricks to get you to sign on the dotted line!
