Cheap alternative to proper green house?

some of the lovely people:T on here have posted about the plastic covered mini greehouses you can get. From memory they range from £9.99 - from Lidl or Aldi ( where I got mine... I think it's £10.99 in aldi though)
I can't say how hot it will get but I am planning to use mine as my garden is so small. There are lots of threads is you go back a page or two. Wyevale
Or build your self a cold frame ? couple of glass panels or old doors ( also less likely to get blown over. which i am told is a hazard with the plastic greenhouses.
Good luck0 -

Good luck
My £10 plastic greenhouse got very hot last year. It's important to open the zip door a bit on the hot days to cool it down a bit. Mine also got blown over a couple of time (exposed garden) so I resorted weighing the bottom shelf down with rocks.
Remember to keep the plants well watered as they'll dry out VERY quick. I grew tomato plants last year and they were probably to large so i suggest you avoid them. Others may disagree of course.0 -
My mini-greenhouse is a blimmin' nuisance.
It blows away, falls over, takes off like a balloon and gets ripped easily. It's covered in more cellotape than a reused jiffy bag from an Ebay seller.
I sunk it into the ground, weighted it down with rocks - effectively losing the bottom shelf. So now I've got one- shelved-low-flying object looking like a jiffy bag.
Great.

We lived in a house which suffered from terrible wind. I drilled some metal angle brackets to the paving slabs and wired the mini greenhouse to the ground.
In the garden centre at the moment I've seen a nice walk in octagonal greenhouse for £99. The plastic has thread through it and looks pretty strong. Gruardsman brand I think. They have smaller models too.
