Doctor Who Themed Party

A really simple game if you have the space, a variation on sticky toffee and many other playgound games.
One person is The Doctor, two are Daleks/Cybermen/Slitheen or whatever you fancy.
Everyone who isn't a character runs around and the baddies have to catch them. If they are caught, they stand still with their arms and legs spread wide and The Doctor can release them by crawling under their arm or through their legs. Change who gets to be The Doctor or the Dalek etc every so often so that everyone gets a turn. Kids love this game and as no one gets out, it can go on for as long or as short a time as you like.
Hope that the party goes well.0 -
Sorry, OP, but I'm going OT with this post...
Lizzie Dripping - great username!! Loved the programme when I was a kid :T
(again, sorry OP!!)0 -
Thanks everyone - am loving the suggestions, especially Lizzie Dripping's - fab!:D
Have thought of another variation on an old favourite: musical planets. Will get my daughter to help me cut out and paint various planets out of card. Gradually the planets will get sucked into a black hole... I need to get a life I think....!0 -

Baker Ross sell alien themed stuff for the party bags.
Argh, I think they've stopped doing them. They used to do whoppee cushions and notepads. They sell a few toys though.0 -
Jellybabies!!!! You could use them to decorate the cake or on little buns. Speaking as the wife of a big kid ::koff:: Dr Who fan who has his own full size K9 and a tardis cookie jar I may do my DH a Dr Who party for his next b/day lol!
Asda do a dalek cookie kit (think it's a Green's kit?) they're in the aisle with the cake mixes and decorations. If you look at the recent episodes and invent recipes eg dalek pizza cut rough dalek shaped ham and cheese shapes and lay on top of each other on a pizza, K9 Bites (sausages on sticks), you'll be amazed what the kids will eat if it has a Dr Who name!
There's a company that does Dr Who party stuff loot bags, paper plates etc here
You could get the kids to come as their favourite character but as its a little girls party be prepared for a lot of little 'Rose' clones :rotfl: The BBC do a page of games online so they can all play a game whilst they wait. You could always let them watch a few episodes from behind the sofa as well. And don't forget to play Auton's (the old fashioned statues game to Dr Who themed music!!!) if I think of anything else I'll let you know, hope your little girl has a lovely party
If you have access to a couple of remote controlled Dalek's you could make an area for the kids to drive the Daleks? saw this at the Dr Who exhibition in Manchester and the kids loved it!!!

Hi, hope I can be helpful. When me and my brother were small around the time it was winding down my aunty did a dalek version of blind man's buff, really works she didn't dress up or anything just tied a scarf around her head and almost all the kids there hid in our downstairs loo (very small, like fitting people into a phone booth). With mini pizzas you can tell the kids they are squashed planets, biscuits decorated with dark blue icing and silver balls galaxy bites and so on.
This link was posted on the freebies board a while ago http://www.dadcando.com/default_MAKING.asp?project=Make%20a%20TARDIS&catagory=AdvancedModels which would be an interesting present box or a way to do a pinata, the photo idea at the bottom of the page would make a good birthday card/invitation. They also have a link to do a K9 on the same website.
If you do decide to have a pinata it might be a good idea to get a pull string pinata kit, as found here http://www.celebrateexpress.com/celebration/product.asp?SKU=60171&Ns=sort377&a=1&pageID=4&iRec=12&N=4294967200&TabID=4294967232&vw=asthumb which means that the pinata can be used for future parties or as an extra toy.
It might also be nice to get the little torches with the blue lights as party bag toys and call them sonic screwdrivers.0
