got one when we first married and bought our house, then amended it when kids came along. Got it all done for free through my Union Rep at work but like many on this there will be nothing left for my kids or anybody else now at this rate as i am in debt to the uxters!

If you haven't made a will, this is how your money will be distributed -

(There are plenty of other sites explaining the intestacy rules - I just find this one particularly clear and easy to understand.)

Remember that if you are part of an unmarried couple, your OH will not inherit anything - it will all go to your blood relations.

No, as I have no assets, and no children (and no issues within my family).
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

    Hi

I was single when I made my first will. I had just bought my own house and dad insisted I made a will so he wouldn't have to sort everything out if anything happened to me!

It was updated when I married and each time I had a child. The wills after the children were born included information on 2 people who were to be our daughters' guardians and their role, ie they have to ensure that the girls are placed with the family members who are in the best position to care for them and also that they are raised together. They will also have joint control over their finances until they grow up. (They know I will come back to haunt them if they don't carry out my wishes!)

I think, especially when children are involved, a will is essential.

I've never paid for a will as the first one was done free when I bought my house and the three subsequent ones were done by a friend of hubby's who didn't charge us.
