Hi
We have a black slate fireplace, a heavy object was dropped onto the slate and has caused the colour to go a grey colour.
does anyone know how I can recolour the hearth to make it all the same colour again.
Its a rented house so if not I'll loose a heafty bit of my deposit.
thanks in anticipation

In the spirit of true money-saving - try cooking oil - veg oil, even olive oil. A smear with an old rag and polish off the excess. I used it on a quarry tiled hearth and they came up amazing. Worth a try.Money can't buy you happiness, but it does bring you a more pleasant form of misery.

Is the grey colour the product of what was split on it? If so, what was it?
Or are you suggesting that the slate itself has changed colour?
Can you tell us what you dropped on it, please?Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac
