Much as it pains me to agree with Vax and whilst a car does have lots of cylinders and will start & move with a fault on one of them I do struggle with the idea that it will do a 300 mile round trip with a holed piston.0

It'll quite easily do a 300 mile round trip with a holed piston. It'll wallop through fuel, accelerate slowly, chew through oil and be a not too pleasant journey but it'll do it.0 -
300 miles with the sump slowly filling up with unburnt fuel? Don't think so.0
