Taking food to Greece?

I wouldnt take Dairylea cheese, I can imagine it going really gooey and warm after ten mins of getting off the plane!
Could you not buy the birthday cake when you are there - Id imagine it would be pretty bashed up otherwise? Same with raisins, just buy them there.
If someone had a baby Im guessing they would just buy the baby food when they got to Greece as well as bringing a bit of their own.0 -
You might find normal white sliced bread a bit hard to come by (they often sell smallish presliced loaves with the crusts removed which are not the nicest and quite dry) however there are plenty of bakeries around where you can get fresh loaves and rolls, and many of the mini-markets get deliveries from these bakeries, but at times you do have to be quick.
These bakeries often do a great range of cakes and pasties which might satisfy the "birthday cake" requirement.
You should have no problem with raisins, fruit, bananas and cucumbers and the like - minimarkets typically pile the fruit and veg up outside.
As the previous poster says there are plenty of local brands of cheese spread, fruit pots that sort of thing. Our kids liked what we called the "laughing cow" cheese spread.
Enjoy the holiday - the Greeks also make a big fuss of young children so you might find it a lot easier there than here.0
