Samsung 5.1 DVD player only plays some discs

Can anyone suggest a fix for a Samsung DVD player (part of a 5.1 setup) that will play some discs but not others?
All the disks are original and I don't think a region issue.
Took the unit apart and cleaned out the internals,fan,laser eye etc but its no different.
Anything else I can try apart from chucking it and investing in a better quality player:D
