Weeds - HELP!

Hi every one, I wondered if you could help.

At the bottom of the garden we had 3 HUGE trees which was removed by the Landlord (But unfortunatley the stumps were left) So we sectioned it off and left it.

We now have some HUGE weeds - Some are over 5ft!

Now without having to do LOADS of hard work (I'm not lazy - honest! - but with work and 2 kids its difficult to spend much time doing the garden) is there anyway to get rid of them? or at least get them down to a decent level to then make them easier to remove? I dont fancy jumping in there with a strimmer

I believe that every neat and tidy garden should have an overgrown bit- preferably with a small pond (ie buried ice cream container) to encourage butterflies bees etc/ - Leave it as it is.

If you know of a way to weed that doesn't involve effort or expenditure of some sort, patent it and you'll make a fortune. The only ways are

1. weed by hand, garden fork and gloves.
2. weedkiller, lots of strong weedkiller, two or three times
3 strim or burn, then lay thick card, carpeting or thick black plastic over it for about 6 months at least.
