Do the government and the economy have more to loose by pumping in created money? or not?
.
If it was going into wealth creating assets, instead of being wasted, it would at least be doing some good.“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” --Upton Sinclair0 -
None of this stupid QE is working for me. All the while my savings aren't making much I won't be spending much. Nor do I have a need to borrow.
We have already cut back on non essential items and are very careful with shopping and any larger essential purchases.
When we cancelled SKY the "retentions representative" asked us our reasons and I said "due to Government cuts we can no longer expend on this item so it unfortunately is a victim of our own household 'cuts'". Ditto with two Vodafone contracts and regular donations to charities. I am afraid charity is starting at home as far as we are concerned now.
We are all in this together? Like hell we are.0 -
I saw the best ISA rate today from Santander, for a new or existing customer you can sign up for an ISA which pays you 0.01% up-to £1000, and then 0.05% above that...
...Wow, I'm jumping at the bit to earn 0.05% a year tax-free.0 -

Did the same with Sky, they gave me 3 free months of all channels, have to call back on 8th August and give 31 days notice to cancel and not get charged :T
I'm thinking about a sim only contract with vodafone when my contract is up for renewal in December. I have a blackberry any idea what's best, or are other providers better?0 -

Sky didn't offer us anything! We now have one old Nokia 5110 with a GiffGaff SIM. We pay £5 a month for 60 mins and u/l textx but some months we don't even top it up.
I am just sick of this country. It seems to reward idleness and those that go with out as we have done to save for our later years get screwed over by propping up idlers who won't work or think they are too ill to work, a failing country, banking system and government.0 -
They called back on the day it was due to be cancelled and turned off to free sat and offered it :-)0

Maybe the gov. needs to put this much money into the economy, but why do it via the institutions that caused the problems, i.e. big banks?
Simply, print off a big pot of money. Decide, how much for house loans, how much for business loans. Let other institutions give it out, like supermarket banks, Metro bank, charities/ngo's. They can collect repayments and take a percentage and it will strengthen supermarket/alternatives and weaken the baddies. Why not give some to zopa to lend out? ... give some to me, I'll do it.0 -
To encourage jobs, the obvious thing to do would be to reduce the tax on jobs (National Insurance)
Instead of taxing EARNED income from jobs, tax UNEARNED income from inheritance.
But too many politicians with wealthy parents would rather not have any inheritance tax at all.- even if it means strangling the rest of the economy by increasing the jobs tax instead.“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” --Upton Sinclair0 -

We have such a tax, and you even mentioned its name - "inheritance tax".
And I think you'll find that tax has been paid to acquire those assets and people are just wanting to pass on a few bob to their kids rather than have the government tax it yet again.
I do, however, agree regards NI, particularly employer's NI, which is the least stealthy stealth tax one can imagine, but it still fools many people.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0
