Hi all,
We have booked a holiday in Cornwall for 2 weeks at the beginning of July. With the weather being the way it has been, does anyone have any suggestions of things to do if the weather is bad.
There is myself, my husband, our daughter and her friend (both are 16 going on 17).
Many thanks in advance you helpful lot.:T

Same time we go! Really, just comes own to be prepared for the british summer, take waterproofs!! Theres plenty of walks around the coastline, not sure whete in cornwall you are staying. Cape cornwall is fantastic on either a beautiful sunny day, or when its blowing a hooll! Some great walks around that way. Theres the obvious, lands end ( commericialised but if your travelling along way worth a visit and lots of it s indoors) the eden project (we love it there and go every year, can be expensive so use tesco vouchers if you collect them, or look in local papers, great place and you can warm up in the rainforest!) just get booted up and walk round truro , nice place, lovely cathedral, and shops. Maybe horse riding if its not beach weather? St ives is great for a wonder around if its a bit overcast, and so is penzance. St micheals mount is a must place to go, but you need to time itwith the tides or get the boats out. Depending on your budget theres ilses of scilly helicopters?0

Thanks for that guys. We are staying in St Ives so at least we have a dry haven to come back to.
Thanks for the tips on the walks I really fancy doing that as I am determined this isn't going to be one of those holidays were you come back half a stone heavier than when you went.
I have managed to get a discount voucher for 25% off the eden project.
Is Flambards worth it?
Truro I love it, I haven't been to Cornwall in over 20 years (we used to go every year when we were kids). My hubby is recovering from a stroke so we didn't want to run the risk of anything happening whilst abroad and had great memories of Cornwall so booked up. I am really looking forward to it bad weather or not.0 -
Flambards is great, but maybe not for kids of that age, the theme park rides are a little on the childish side, not alton towers! Newquay would probably be more their scene! I love cornwall, and go a couple of times a year and always have a great time what ever the weather.....check eden project sessions website as they have good entertainment there too!0

Most of the locals say that if it is raining on one coast then head to the opposing coast which may be drier.
As to attraction in the dry:
The National Maritime Museum at Falmoouth
Cornish Goldsmiths at Tolgus http://www.treasureparks.com/Home.html
Trago Mills @ Falmouth or Liskeard
Carnglaze Caverns @ Liskeard
Tate @ St Ives
We found the Blue Reef Aquarium at Newquay to be small and underwhelming.
As to the Eden Project, when it rains it can be extremely busy, so much so that the visit is a horrific experience. The man without a signature.0 -
The area around the Helford river are usually quieter in the rain, and you see more wildlife too. Park at Helford village and there's a cafe next to the car park http://downbytheriverside.co.uk/#TeamCarter

You could go to 'Fifteen' - it's Jamie Oliver's restaurant in Watergate Bay and it looks out over the sea, so in the rain the view can be quite dramatic. The food's really good too, of course.
St Ives has the Tate of course and other art galleries, like the Barbara Hepworth museum if sculpture's your thing.
Truro doesn't have loads to do in the day: it's mainly shopping, there's a small museum, the cathedral to look around, the bowling alley. You could check out what's on at the theatre - the Hall for Cornwall - they usually have loads of really good stuff playing.
Hope you have a good holiday!0
