Big thumbs down to DPD Parcel
I ordered a gazeebo from Amazon and paid £8 for guaranteed delivery by 1pm for Friday 15th June. I wanted this for a party at the weekend as the weather forecast was not good.
I waited in all day for the parcel to be delivered and it didn't turn up  I got in touch with Amazon after 1pm who told me that it was out delivery and would be delivered that day by 6.30pm.
Well, guess what, it didn't turn up! so I had wasted a whole day waiting for it. I was very annoyed with this as I had plans for the afternoon, but had to cancel them to wait in for the delivery/
I contacted Amazon again and this time they told me that DPD could not find my house! I found this very hard to believe because I do not live in a remote location, I live just off a very busy main road, with the road names clearly visible and my house is very visible and so is the house number on my front door!
Amazon supposedly got in touch with DPD again and gave them my mobile number to call me if they needed any directions and said they would deliver on Saturday by 1.30pm.......
and guess what, they did not deliver yet again, when I rang Amazon they said DPD would now deliver on MONDAY! I told them not to bother delivering it at all and to refund my money in full (plus delivery charge).
I had to race down to Tesco and pick up a cheap gazeebo with less than an hour to spare before the party started (which has now broken, but that is another rant for another thread :D lol)
SHAME ON YOU DPD!

Dont blame you for being very annoyed. I wonder if standard of service varies from depot to depot, or even driver to driver. My DPD deliveries are always spot on- I even get the 1 hr slot that they will be delivering emailed to me. I've now left authorisation to just leave deliveries outside my door, and they are always left exactly where they are meant to be.
I always track my parcels. Due to previous bad experience with Argos, I wouldn't put it past them to blame DPD when it might have been their own fault.DONT BREED OR BUY WHILE HOMELESS ANIMALS DIE. GET YOUR ANIMALS NEUTERED TO SAVE LIVES.0 -
I have also sent a complaint to Amazon about this.
I can't face taking the Tesco gazeebo back till tomorrow :o

Ive never had that experience with dpd they are my current favourite, with sms updates etc
have a read of this http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/delivery-rights
good luck trying with amazon though all i got was a 1 month prime extension0 -
I also find DPD to be an excellent delivery system. Paperwork is superb, communication is great. Their labels are designed to include customer phone number as well as message to driver about any special delivery instructions.
I would guess that if there is a problem, it was between the retailer and DPD, eg, the retailer providing daft or inaccurate instructions for delivery...0 -
I don't agree with all this stuff about DPD being good. There's a road that leads to my road which is called something completely different, and it's obvious where my road starts but every time they deliver something they deliver it to the other road. I've stopped collecting it from the other house and just complaining of non-delivery now, my house is really easy to find.0

DPD are worse than useless in my opinion.
I wanted my company laptop to be collected from home and delivered to our IT people up north. Company arranged DPD for the Wednesday before the double bank holiday. I waited in all day. Even seen a DPD vehicle delivering to a house about 100 yards away from mine. They didn't turn up, and when I got IT to find out what was going on it turned out that the driver had cancelled the collection off of his own back. Re-arranged collection for the Thursday am and he turned up at 4pm! Got a call from IT on the Thursday after the bank holidays to say the laptop was being collected that afternoon and would be with me latest Monday.....I received it on the WEdnesday afternoon. Tracking showed they we unable to deliver as no time.
Bearing in mind both collections and deliveries were next day(supposedly).
Just can't understand why these companies cannot do what they are paid to do0
