converting avi. to dvd

hello I was wondering if anyone knows any decent freeware or other ways to convert avi. movie to standard dvd format? Thank you

    have a look at https://www.afterdawn.com for a good selection of conversion guides and free software

    Also have a look at https://www.videohelp.com and https://www.doom9.org for guides and info.

    I've used dvd flick in the past, since it was recommended her, and it's pretty good. I've also used dvd2svcd and that worked OK. Since I got Vista I've used the built in Windows DVD Maker and that worked fine as well.

    Look for VSO divx to dvd ,there is a freeware version available,which is easy to use...
    I would love some decent telly on a Saturday night

    Although DVD Flick is better than the likes of Nero and DVD Santa I still find Avi2DVD the best one around.

    Best thing to use is:

    GUI4ffmpeg - To convert the avi into an MP2 stream, then
    GUI for DVDAuthor - to create your menus then author the DVD.

    I do a lot of this kind of thing, and having tried everything out there, the combination of these 2 small freeware programs is the only method with a 100% success rate.
