have a look at https://www.afterdawn.com for a good selection of conversion guides and free softwareIT Field Service Engineer, 20 years with screwdriver and hammer0

Also have a look at https://www.videohelp.com and https://www.doom9.org for guides and info.
I've used dvd flick in the past, since it was recommended her, and it's pretty good. I've also used dvd2svcd and that worked OK. Since I got Vista I've used the built in Windows DVD Maker and that worked fine as well.

Although DVD Flick is better than the likes of Nero and DVD Santa I still find Avi2DVD the best one around.0

Best thing to use is:
GUI4ffmpeg - To convert the avi into an MP2 stream, then
GUI for DVDAuthor - to create your menus then author the DVD.
I do a lot of this kind of thing, and having tried everything out there, the combination of these 2 small freeware programs is the only method with a 100% success rate.
Head to Videohelp and see the turorials on exactly how to use them.0 -
