Maybe about 12 months old, strapped into her chair. Just screamed out loud every few minutes. I found it impossible to get anything done, and ended up leaving without my wife.

If she was truly feral she'd have been scavenging under the shelves for food.
Maybe she wasn't well. Maybe she has a problem you're not aware of. But at that age she wasn't rude at all.
I remember well my DD throwing a strop in a buggy - screaming she was. I also remember the COMPLETE STRANGER, also a mum with a tot, who came and stood by me 'to support you while you calm her down'. And meant I didn't have to have glares of disapproval directed at me from people like you, Tod.
My DD has grown into a lovely young woman of whom I'm proud.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Why do both of you need to go to the supermarket anyway?? Just send the missus on her own in future, toddy! Durr!"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

That's the thing with babies/toddlers, they tend to scream sometimes.0

All my sympathy is for your wife, she has more to cope with than we could imagine in our wildest nightmares

Small children scream in supermarkets. It's a given.
I strongly suspect there's a hidden machine at the supermarket entrance which pokes them with a sharp stick.0 -
I don't have kids, but I think complaining about a crying toddler is a bit futile. Whenever I see a toddler about to get into a strop I tend to look at them and put my finger to my lips, tends to stun them into silence. I worry sometimes that a parent would find it rude but I've never had any disapproving looks or words
lol, sometimes when I'm with my sister parents sit their toddler across from us. Most people think we're identical (we're twins but fraternal) and babies/toddlers/random people in cars love it.0
