Stinky dishwasher

Since getting gas heating installed a few weeks ago we have not been using dishwasher but it is starting to stink. A few days ago i ran a cycle on it to clean it but kitchen smells damp and after checking cupboards and taking off kickboards of units in case any water escaping anywhere I opened DW door and it stinks again

We have cleaned the traps etc and have just done it again and have it back on a cycle but running it every few days to clean it is silly when the point was to save money lol

Any tips ?

To clean a dishwasher use hottest wash and a cup of white vinegar whether that fixes problem or not sounds like you got some other issue some where either dw is blocked, drains or something else you should only need to clean a washer every few weeks

I never fully shut the door on my dishwasher unless it's running. Believe that prevents smells.

This is what I was going to say; for the same reason I leave the washer door ajar, and open the detergent drawer too.
Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY

I have had a DW for almost 20 years, but since we got gas installed and have hot water all the time we have started to wash dishes after each meal and working ok , noone minds doing it and electricity has gone down :T

I NEVER thought I would see the day we would not use it but over last few years we have been using it less and less if we had hot water when heating was on in winter. I would not get it out as when we have everyone for dinner (8 people ) will still want the option lol

if the white vinegar doesnt work try a cup of baking powder sprinkled in the bottom of it then put it thru its regular cycle see if that helps neutralise any pongs? im so excited about getting a dishwasher and theres you saying you dont use yours haha. :D
