Name Spelling is causing probs with mortgage- HELP!

Hi
Getting stressed here. I have just applied for a mortgage with abbey and unfortunately the spelling of the name i have used since i was 5 is slightly different to that of my birth certificate/drivers licence/passport etc. Abbey don't like it and i don't know what to do. All of bank statements, work salaries etc all use my current spelling
I really want this house and don't want further delays incase the seller pulls out.
Anybody else had this problem?

I wonder if it would be an idea to do a 'change of name by deed poll'? You have to get a solicitor to draw this up for you but I think it is relatively cheap. My friend did this and it allows you to use this name as your legal name on all legal documents (including passports etc). My friend used her new name on her house purchase etc. too.“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”

There's a freephone no on this website http://www.ukdps.co.uk/
I've just been having a look on the deed poll site as it's something I wondered about for a while before my divorce came through...
I found this...
Some people like the idea of having what we call a fun name. We have issued Deed Polls for fun names such as Jellyfish McSaveloy, Toasted T Cake, Nineteen Sixty-Eight, Hong Kong Phooey, Father Christmas, One-One-Eight Taxi, Ting A Ling, Huggy Bear, Donald Duck, Jojo Magicspacemonkey and James Bond.
If you are considering a fun name and belong to a professional body, you should check to ensure there will be no problems registering your new name with them. The Law Society would not be happy with a registered solicitor being call Mickey Mouse!

AFAIK it only takes the time needed for you to book an appointment with a solicitor, them to draw up the paperwork and for you to sign it. I'm sure if you rang a couple of solicitors they'd tell you exactly how long it would take... and how much.“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”

I changed my name myself ..... I drew up a declaration, signed it with 2 witnesses (which were both people that would normally be allowed to sign your passport application) and have been using my new name ever since.
Cost me nothing and took me about 30 minutes!
My passport, driving licence, banks accounts are all in the new name - everyone accepted the self declaration with no problems.2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j0
