Fixing Kitchen Drawer?

Hi all,

Wondering if some of you who are more 'handy' than myself could give me some guidance on fixing my kitchen drawer...

We rent this house and the landlord kindly replaced all the cupboard and drawer fronts for us before we moved in. However, because he used the existing carcasses he had to adapt the fronts to fit what was there. The biggest sufferer of this is the drawers!

The drawer I need to fix was once two drawers, but he attached two fronts together to make a 'mega drawer' to put in pots and pans. We loved the drawer when it actually worked but now the front has fallen off it makes the kitchen look ugly and untidy..

I've attached some pics below of the drawer right now. As you can see, he screwed the old fixings to the new fronts and used some kind of adhesive to stick them together but the plastic obviously wasn't strong enough...

So, any ideas on what I can do to fix this back together?

Cheers,

Kevin

Have you asked the landord to fix it? I would. Not being facetious but if you are renting then the landlord should be responsible for repairs.

Thanks but I'd rather fix it myself. He's a very generous landlord to the point where he lets us do anything we like to the house. I don't want to grumble over one broken drawer.

I would say it's time for a NEW drawer....

Looks like his super front was way too heavy for the plastic draw frame. You could try some 90 degree angled metal corner brackets, from the front running onto the inside of the draw frame, but IMO they would fail quickly too.

Is it a standard width unit 400/500/600?

As maninthestreet says time for new drawer unit. Somewhere like B&Q sell them with metal frames that may fit a standard sized unit.
