If you no longer live in the property then give them final meter readings and end your liability. You will be liable up until the date you do that.

My bf received a bill in his name a few months after him and his ex spit up for a couple of hundred pounds for a utility ill at a property they lived in together. He phoned up the supplier who sent the bill and was told that it was in his name so they'd chase him only, they didn't care about her... But he was told that he could seek legal advice about getting her to pay her share as she was registered as living at the property via the council etc so there is proof that she was there but that would have to be a seperate thing between her and him. Obviously he could have been told the wring information or things might have changed so def speak to suppliers and cab yourself for clarification. My bf didn't bother taking it further as after speaking to her about the bill and listening toher and all her crazy talk on the phone he thought it was better to just pay the bill himself and be shut of her once and for all haha so can't give you any details on taking it further etc. sorry! I'm also Sorry to hear about your seperation, Hopefully things will be resolved in a timely manner and the children won't be disrupted more than needs be. X

    cheers mummymummy :j

to save hassle i might as well just pay it off and crack on with life :T
  • Like I said def. speak to people about it before paying it off as things might have changed. Having said that though if you pay it yourself you can hold your head up high and you will know that (quite literally) you owe nobody anything. X

If she moved into rented accommodation that you've never lived in, how did the bills get put into your name?

I think what he's saying is they both lived together and have now separated he's moved to a different property on base as he won't get married quarters now and she's moved into rented accommodation but he's trying to deal with the bills from the property they lived in together, which are all in his name.
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
