HSBC - correct address/length of time

Options
Hi All,

Im a newbie so be gentle with me.

I have started the process of claiming back mis-sold PPI from HSBC.

I contacted them initially 4 weeks ago at the address in Bristol supplied by the financial ombudsman website but have received no acknowledgement of my letter.

Surfing around HSBC banking website threw up a curved ball they said initial complaints go to an address in coventry.

So which is the right address ?

HSBC seem to be saying that as my complaint is after January 2012 they must respond within 8 weeks.

So do i take it that this means they dont acknowledge receipt of your letter just respond with an offer or not within 8 weeks.

Would really appreciate some input guys thanks

    Re-send your complaint to the address in Coventry.
  • Are you saying that the Coventy address is correct and the Bristol not ?

    The one their website tells you to use:

    HSBC, PPI Complaints
    PO BOX 6177
    COVENTRY
    CV3 9HP

  • I spoke to customer services last night and get this they say that the correct address is the one in Bristol but couldnt give a good reason why the Coventry address was on their website

    Go figure

    Makes you wonder if their playing games doesnt it guess I will just have to wait it out and see what happens
  • banks usually have internal mail circulations, so they may have overflow and using an alternative address to pass on to correct department as it is so busy. i wouldn't worry about it or get in a tizz about it to be honest, it WILL get there.

    my claim with hsbc was really straightforward, no hassle at all. you just have to sit it out though, obviously the banks are backed up with claims, so you need a bit of patience. i work in a very respected financial complaints department, and i can 100% guarantee you phoning and hassling them WILL NOT get your complaint dealt with sooner. it's a one by one, in order of receipt process. cherry picking is rightly frowned upon.

    Thanks.
    I didn't ring or hassle either for the same reasons.
    (I don't include writing to the Chief Exec when they failed to pay my redress due to a postal mix up, though!;))
  • Can someone help me please with an appeal against Egg's refusal to refund my ppi.

    Reasons for refusal are as follows:

    That the online sales procoess does not require me to take out ppi as a condition of obtaining the credit card;

    That it does not provide advisory service;

    That I was required to positively confirm that wished to purchase this polict during the online application;

    That they provided full terms and conditions of the policy and requested that I read them before submitting.

    I was a self employed contractor at the time and had medical condition. The policy would not have paid out if I had tried to claim.

    Should I proceed to the FOS or write to Egg to review their decision.

    I recommend you start your own thread, this one is about HSBC addresses.

    Regardless of the complaint address you should be able to phone up and see if the at least received your letter. i have an ongoing one wih them (8 weeks today oddly) but im a current customer so it was done over the phone and address was their pre payment one and i cant remember.

    Post can go missing so a quick call to see if they got it mighthelp, if not resend to coventry one as OP said. ...hwever this may be easier for me as im a customer and i can just call the normal line and see the update.. not the PPI line :)

    Good luck with your claim :)

    I don't think bigpaul999 is currently concerned whether the Bank received his letter, as this thread dates from more than three months ago back in June! I think he will have done as I suggested back then and sent his complaint to the correct address. Regardless, he was last online on MSE in July.
