Adding RAM

I have a £25 voucher or a £10 voucher to use on ebay. Can't combine vouchers.

So I thought I would either buy a battery or more RAM for Samsung R519 laptop which currently has 1GB RAM.

I read somewhere that you should use matched modules so I'm not sure what route to take.

a) buy 1GB and put into second slot

b) buy 2GB and put into second slot ( but now not matched ?)

c) buy 2GB and remove the 1GB

Advice please. I'm sure you might say Ebay not best place to buy but have nothing else I want to spend voucher on.

Thanks

According to Samsung the R519 has a minimum of 2Gb of RAM.

Which Operating System do you have (Windows Vista or Windows 7 Home Premium) 32 or 64 bit version? Hold down the Windows Key and press Pause/Break key to find out.

It is Windows 7 Professional, 32 bit, 1GB memory installed

I think it differs from the spec you quoted as it was supplied by XMA under the Home Access system.

Doesn't have to be matched other than it being DDR2 800MHz SO DIMM.

That would explain it. Bung another 2Gb in, making 3Gb in total.
