Desperate for help-any ideas please?
I know this is more of a long shot rather than a motoring problem but Im in a fix. Im suppposed to be picking my neice up from the airport in 2 hours and Ive just gone to get in the car and it wont start.
Its a Ford KA. I last drove it yesterday afternoon and everything was ok. When I turn the key today you can hear the car turning over as if its going to start but that is accompanied by a loud screeching/grinding noise. Ive tried it 2 or 3 times and the same thing happens each time.
Anyone have any idea whats causing that to happen please?

starter motor. the solenoid is not engaging the starter gear with the flywheel or not engaging fully.
if you can see the stater !!!! it with the wheel bar in the boot it might free it up0 -
