Viagogo - a big no no!!

So disappointed, bought some tickets via Viagogo 9 months as they had sold out elsewhere. Two weeks to go until the gig, and Viagogo still haven't sent tickets on:mad::mad:

I found out through other review sites that their 100% guarantee is worthless, it's only 100% because they cancel orders they cannot fufill (at the last minute!). I've asked them to confirm i will get my tickets and they refuse to do so!!!! They just refer to their worthless guarantee which states they will cancel an order they cannot fufil. I'm so annoyed, partly at myself for not looking closely at the terms of the guarentee.

They also advise i may get tickets 'very close' to the event - and i've to let them know my travel arrangement in case they need to send them to me after i've travelled down :eek:

Have a horrible feeling i've paid through the nose for some tickets i'm not 100% guarenteed to get. Has anyone else use viagogo? Did they cancel your order/send tickets on time?

The only thing that's 'guaranteed' is your money, they're mostly relying on other people to send the tickets to you and it's well known they advertise tickets before they've actually got a lead in fulfilling it.

Also Viagogo recently dissolved their UK business, their website is now run by a Swiss company so they're not even bound by UK consumer law

The concert promoter probably hasn't sent you the tickets yet as they have probably managed to resell them again for a higher price.

Thanks for the responses. I really hope they get their comeuppance, it's a disgrace they are getting away with these dodgy tactics.

It's so gutting to have booked my tickets so long ago and still not actually know if i'm going. I've paid for a hotel and train tickets, so will be out a lot of money if they don't send the tickets through. Given their track record for customer service, will go through my cc to get a refund if ness', does anyone know if i can claim my expenses for the hotel/train fares?

I sold some tickets through a similar site as two of the people who was coming with the group were no longer able to attend. I know they have dodgy sales practice (as per the TV show and other sources) and am in no way condoning these types of practice, but genuine people do sell via them. (I didn't go with viagogo as I wasn't as convinced about their T&C etc as the site I chose).

I didn't receive the tickets from where I purchased them until about 7 days before the event. I then had to send them next day delivery to the resale site, who then forwards them to the person who purchased them. So they probably didn't receive them until 2/3 days before.

While it this is no guarantee that your tickets will arrive, it is quite common for promoters to not post tickets until very close to the event.
  • I sold my Katy Perry tickets via Viagogo last year.

Viagogo never had hold of the tickets I was selling. The way it works is that they do it via courier service.

I gave the courier the envelope who sent it straight to the recipitent.

So, basically it depends on when they seller has the tickets in their possession.
