Home Telephones-Carrier Pre Select

I have a Philips Home Telephone that has a CPS(Carrier Pre Select) facility which allows you to use a variety of Telecom Providers (First Telecom,18185,Telediscount etc). The 11 digit access numbers of the Telecom Providers are stored in a directory that you access before you dial the actual number you want. Used in conjunction with Martin's Call Checker you can save a lot of money.
I am now looking to purchase a more up to date Telephone that has the CPS facility? Can anyone recommend a good Home Telephone that has this very simple but useful facility?

You could use any phone with a memory facility to achieve this.0

Strictly that isn't CPS, carrier pre select, the clue is in the 'pre' word, CPS, the exchange is pre programmed to route the calls over the CPS provider rather than BT, so you don't have to enter a code or prefix before you dial, all your phone does is enter the indirect access code for you before you dial the number you want..sorry to be a bit pedantic, but what you have isn't CPS.0

I think I need to clarify what and how my telephone deals with outgoing calls.
I have two Directory's on my Phone. The first Directory allows me to enter & store the 11 digit Access Codes to access other Call Providers. The second Directory is one where I have the telephone numbers of Friends,Family and Business contacts.
If I want to use another Provider, other than the Line Rental Company, I use a one click Pre Select entry from the first Directory that takes me to a Provider of choice. I then use a number from my main (second) Directory and with one click phone a friend.
I'm really not sure I understand the point you are trying to make. I know that there have been systems such as Orchid but is,in my opinion, unnecessarily sophisticated for someone using a Home Telephone.
There is also a Pre Selection function on Siemens phones which is limited to four digits. I believe it is set up to deal with a Pre Select for Country codes. Even with a massive increase in Countries they cannot foresee the need to have more than four digits for Country codes.
In addition Siemens have an arrangement which links specific Call Providers with specific telephone numbers but I think you need to think like a German to understand how this could possibly work.
The more simple two Directory's are easier to use and allow you to choose the cheapest and most efficient way to call another number.0 -

My point is CPS is the generic term used when a person uses a service provider other than BT for calls while still paying BT for line rental, in cases like this the end user dials the ordinary directory number they want, the exchanges has already been 'pre selected' to route the calls over someone other than BT's network, to get BT to carry the call you would prefix the number with 1280' as your phone inserts a code in front of the directory number you are not using CPS but indirect call providers, it's just your phone adds the code instead of you dialing the code,0
