I think this is a wonderful idea.
With my first son (now 2) I got no help from hospital or health visitors/midwife to breastfeed and gave up after a couple of days.
My other son is only 7 months and i couldnt breastfeed him as i have bad post natal depression and because of the high dose of anti depressants it wouldnt be safe.
So i feel i missed my chance and thats very upsetting.
I really hope this has and impact on expectant mums :-)

Thanks again. Jo. 0 -
So far I have received some leaflets and stickers from the breastfeeding team and also a load of stuff from the Anti Smoking people so I am going to use the 100 carrier bags (when they arrive) and put loads of info in each one along with a pen, a bib, sticker etc and hand them out to the parents etc when I am next at pre-school.All credit cards paid off.

Firstly, i would like to say thank you for these great freebies that i recieved today. I have just finished breast feeding my second child after 17 months. During this time i was constantly ridiculed by family and friends (except my loving husband) for doing it so long. 17 months not actually being that long. I was often referring to various websites leaflets, 101 reasons to breast feed, being useful, and spent quite a while looking for t-shirts promoting breastfeeding, none of which i could find. In a society which is heavily materialistic with mothers having to get bottles, bottle warmers, bottle holders and formula containers just to fit into the social scene, the importance of baby and mother's health is brushed away. Anything to promote what is healthy and right is a must. This is my first post as i thought that i must reply and thank you for giving inspiration to all fit and able mothers out there who want to do the right thing. It is great that at last breastfeeding mothers can feel like they fit into society.0

Congrats on your first post, Archaelogy Girl, and well done for giving your little one such a good start in life.
I breast fed for about 10 months and found it tough-going at times, so I can understand why lots of people do give up. Promotions such as these are really useful though, to raise general awareness of the benefits.

yeh i have to agree with both sides of that argument
they are both fair facts and opinions
although 1 free pen would have been fine 200 seems a little OTT
well atlest if i give some to people it will really sread the word! :j
I thought id be fair on tax payers and i only got 50 these will go round at school so loads of young girls will no they shd breastfeed. i spose its what the NHS wanted and they got it.0 -
I received over 200 pens from these and have distributed them at work. So my colleagues are well aware now....0
