Hi
2 problems:
Problem 1:
I am having problems with an old xp machine. I need to view the data on the HDD which I have taken out of the machine. It's an 3.5" IDE 80GB HDD. I am not sure what unit will read this via a USB cable. Any body who could point me in the right direction? The machine reading this HDD will be running windows 7.
2nd Problem: The machine the above HDD was removed from running XP wont fire up. No power at all. Replaced the power lead with the Monitor which I know works, but nothing...New Power Supply Unit maybe?
Thanks for your help.

1. Any USB Caddy for 3.5" IDE Drives will suit
2. Could be power supply. Could be motherboard. Could just be the power switch. How do I add a signature?0 -
either a caddy as mentioned above or something like: http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/27612285/Logilink-USB-2-0-IDE-And-SATA-Cable/Product.html?_%24ja=tsid:11518|cat:27612285|prd:276122850

I thought about suggesting a multi-adapter, but using them can be a bit daunting for inexperienced users. They are also usually more expensive than a caddy (accepted they can be used with different types of drive)How do I add a signature?0 -

Thanks
They have an external power supply that plugs into the caddy. Inside the caddy is a 40pin IDE cable and a 4 pole power cable. How do I add a signature?0
