Close to giving up.

Yesterday whilst posting I actually felt positive and like I could beat this debt, today the complete opposite.

To add to the £3000 pay day loan debt, we've now received a nearly £500 demand letter from the council stating that we didn't pay enough council tax for our old flat (they want this taken directly out of our wages), a £300 roughly Eon bill to come from our old flat cos they mucked it up and a £400 bill to orange because they want the full contract amount.

To add insult to injury, we had a dispute going on with our ex landlord regarding the state of the carpets when we vacated the property: h was saying they weren't clean enough and a carpet cleaning service wanted £175 for the job. The actual deposit was going to my mum and dad as they lent us the money for the deposit for our current place, so inbetween communicating between 3 different sets of people the last I heard was my parents wanted to dispute the £175. Today we pop into the estate agents to find out my dad collected the cheque about a month ago and no-one f***ing bothered telling us!!! (Excuse the language)
Sorry to those of you who are parents, but I am ashamed to kill him my father. How can someone who lies and treats people like s*** have created me.

I just don't want to do this anymore. Had enough.

Sorry for the post.

don't know what to say to help you , but can you ask those who you owe the money to if you can come to an arrangement or put them all into a bankruptcy which would clear them all even the eon bill ?

Sorry to hear you are going through a rough time of it!

The council tax bill will be your priority, but you can probably arrange a repayment plan with them if you talk to them.

It seems like it's going to all be about communicating with your creditors and figuring out how much you can pay back to them each per month. Have you contacted a debt charity like CCCS or Payplan to discuss your situation? They might be able to provide some help/advice or even help you into a debt management plan so you can tackle this head on.

If you post a full SOA on here with all your income/outgoings you may get some more specific advice about which debts to tackle first and the best way forward. Don't give up, there are people here with loads of experience in dealing with debt and loads of us have dug our way out of deep piles of it!! Think about how good you will feel when you have faced your debt head on and cleared it all - it's not going to be quick or easy but I know I've learned a hell of a lot from doing it and will be much better off than my pre LBM money-ignorant self!

Thanks. Did look into a debt management plan, but wasn't aware of the free companies. The companies I found wanted a percentage.

I've already got repayment plans set up with some of the loan companies.
JUst don't know where we're going to ind £700 for Eon and the council :(:(

If you don't have all the money right now, you don't have it - however the council are a huge priority. Call them as soon as you can and tell them your situation, let them know you really want to pay as much as you can, and try and arrange a repayment plan. Make sure you work out exactly how much money you have leftover for all your debts - it might help to send them a SOA so they can see that you want to contribute as much as you possibly can to repaying the debts. It may be that you need to make £1 token repayments to payday loan or non priority debts while you tackle the council bill and Eon. I'd really recommend contacting the free debt charities, they can not only help you with a free DMP but can just give you some advice if you'd prefer to tackle it all alone.

Going to talk to the council on Monday money - guessing they'll want £240 out of us a month for what we owe them and for the property we're living in at the moment. Doesn't leave an awful lot for anything else.

Definitely going to look into a debt management plan.

Why does everything have to come at once.

DON'T GIVE UP. You are only 20, your whole life is ahead of you and look, you are already so much wiser than most people your age.

You can't do anything today so first thing Monday ring citizens advice and/or CCCS, it all free and you'll have the reassurance of knowing they've seen it all before and worse.

Most people your age are prob at home being helped along by the bank of mum and dad, they'll go through this in their mid-late twenties by which time you'll be fully solvent again.

Stay on here, it's the best place to be. Perhaps read some of the diaries so you know you're not alone in this?

    Bankruptcy is a last resort...

Just saw this posted in another thread and thought it might help you to see an example of how to figure out how much you should be paying who and how to go about it! Looks like it is free to sign up and enter your own details...

    Thanks.

Don't want to even consider bankruptcy until i don't have a single penny to give the companies, I don't want that on my name.
