HI
My husband has just arrived home and he has caught the sleeve of his leather jacket causing a v shape tear, as you can imagine he is gutted.
Can anyone tell me how I could repair it? or if there is a repair kit I could buy to repair it.
It will probably cost more to have it repaired professionally than I can afford at the moment.

I did this to mine, years ago. My dad took a piece of thin, similar colour leather and placed it under the tear, cut to be slightly bigger than the area to be repaired, and then glued it to seal the rip. Like gluing a patch on but on the inside so the ripped bit sticks to the patch (if you know what i mean). I think he used some sort of special glue but not sure which one.
The patch on the arm wasn't too visible but that small section was slightly stiffer than the rest as it was double thickness.
Hope that helpsworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Could you claim the repair on domestic insurance. Leather jackets are really expensive and it may be worth having it done professionally?0

I want to mend a tear on a leather jacket. The tear runs nearly vertically for about 2.5 ins just above the pocket on the front of the jacket.
My DH has tried a bit of superglue but that does not seem to have done the trick. He has also visited the cobbler's who said he could not repair it.
Any ideas? Thanks.0 -

What sort of stitching - bearing in mind I am not the best with a needle?
Do not know how it happened, it is a very clean split though.0 -
I do these all the time.
First unpick the stiches on the lining in an unseen place eg arm. Then get a small piece of thin fabric and some fabric glue and use this to glue the fabric patch to the underside of the tear. On the outside make sure that the edges of the tear are pushed together and flat and leave to dry. Remember to wipe any glue off the outer of the jacket first. Then just sew up the lining and you will be sorted.0 -
Hello, my boyfriends lovely leather jacked got a tare in it some how this week, its about an inch or two long and by the pocket, most is a clean slit and along the seam by the pocket but it gets a bit jagged towards the end. I was wondering if anyone knew whats the best way of repairing it? ThanksBest wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card

You can mend it at home by patching over and using a small upholstery needle that is sharp enough to go through, but if you want a good job I would recommend taking it to a leather shop as they usually know someone who will mend it for a price (not as much as you might think) and do an almost invisable mend job. I ride a motorbike and have had to get my leathers mended before after a disagreement with my bike and the road (i lost, lol), just look in the yellow pages for your nearest shop.
Hope that helps?

My late mum gave me a soft black leather jacket about 20 years ago. It's not that fashionable (nice and loose
, not the tight fitted ones you get now) but I love it. Trouble is, it's gone in one of the shoulders and has lost shape.
The shoulder makes a scrunchy noise when you touch it or put it on and the leather looks thin (but think the problem is mostly on the inside). The body of the jacket is fine.
I have no idea if it can be fixed or where to find anyone who would do it properly. My neighbour had their jacket ruined by someone local who claimed to be a skilled leather repair co.
Does anyone know what's possible and where I can look?
It means a lot to me.
thanks!0
