Border Collie trying to attack washing line?!

Just posting this as I don't understand my dog's behaviour!

Whenever my daughter bounces on her trampoline, my 2 year old border collie goes to a spot at the bottom of the garden and stands on his back legs and jumps up and down trying to attack the washing line which is about 6ft in the air. My other collie who is 7 doesn't like this so he stands and barks at the jumping collie.

Why does he behave like this and how can I stop him doing it? I keep telling him off and putting him in when she's jumping, but then he whinges because he wants to be back out.
Here I go again on my own....

Dogs are weird? The 2 year old probably thinks he's helping your daughter in her ongoing task to destroy the washing line.

Dogs can have some odd habits. Casper is absolutely fine with a cyclinder hoover but thinks upright ones are the work of the devil and will leap on them to defend me from it in all his bravery. Same seems to apply to lawnmowers.
I think that working on some general obedience commands like a "leave it", and down-stays around distractions can help. You want to teach the dog more self-control so it can hold itself back in this situations.

Cos he is a Border Collie that just wants to join in with all the fun .. don't stop him , he's not doing any harm
I had a Border when the kids were little until they reached teenage years, she just joined in with everything they did.

My Border Collie has weird habbits too.
She loves football on the tv and will wag her tail and bark constantly at it.
I agree with cavework, they love joining in and being part of whatevers going on around them.

Please don't stop him .. boarder collies are the most fantastic dogs when you have young kids.
They want to be part of everything , full of beans , part of the gang and really protective of the kids and the family, but soft with it.
Ours grew up with the lads .. 16 fantastic years

He's worn a muddy hole in the lawn with all his jumping :o

Now if I could persuade him to jump on the path instead..... :D
Here I go again on my own....
