Northern rock ppi

I really don't understand what actually ppi is on the mortgage we have with northern rock. We have the mortgage plus 2 loans with them do they put ppi on that? We also have a separate policy with Norwich union which will pay the interest on the mortgage if anything happened is this ppi? Really confused.

you probably have home insurance, life assurance (which could include critical illness cover) and PPI and/or PHI. most will be individual payments.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Ok that explains things abit more, the norwich union policy is life assurance, need to look through all paper work.0
