Disneyland Paris DIY trip 1 adult 1 child- Help!

I'm looking at Disneyland Paris holidays at anytime in November-early December, but its just me and 1 year old.

I thought I could take train, as I don't drive, and Eurostar says Birmingham to Disney Paris is just under £200 return. I'd just need to swap trains once I think, and easier than coach with young child and pushchair.

The official Disneyland Paris site has offer on for 4 nights/5 days for room, tickets and breakfast for £287 (gives 2 nights free in that offer).

Is this a good deal or should I shop around? I wouldn't be super focused on getting on all rides etc cos he's too young, just a nice place for family holiday. Not sure if I should go with Disney if we just want to relax and look around and enjoy ourselves? As a single parent, I woukdn't obviously go on anything without him so is Disney the right choice?

I don't like hot holidays and I'm using some of my student loan for this break so got to remember passports etc. Please help, I would absolutely appreciate it!
Up and onwards to the future!

We went in October a few years back it was very very cold. You'll need warm clothes for you both. The Disney hotels are close to the park and there is a bus service that runs from the hotel to the park every 15 minutes or so. The cheapest Disney hotel isn't badly priced and isn't actually a bad place to stay. There are quite a few rides that a 1 year old will be able to go on and you shouldn't have to queue long for them. You could easily spend 4 days there and have plenty to do. Just wrap up well.

The 2 nights free price is a good one, its effectively 50% off. But the previous poster is right, end November/beginning December can be literally freezing at DLP.

You can relax at DLP though, if thats what you want to do. Food is very expensive around the resort, so thats something else you'd have to factor in. A table/buffet service restaurant is typically around 25 euros for one adult. Counter service (fast food type) is around 11 euros. There is a McDonalds and Earl of Sandwich in the Village area which are closer to normal prices though.

there is a huge thread here on disneyland paris -

Personally, unless YOU are a massive Disney fan, i think your little one is a bit on the young side for DLP. The only reason i say this is that it's not a particularly cheap holiday and at that time of year, you will be limited by the weather really. Plus your 1 year old won't remember anything of it.

I'm not saying you won't enjoy it but we found 2 nights at that time of year was plenty. Staying out all day when it's freezing cold/wet is no fun !

Do you have to go in winter ? Could you travel when the weather is better ? Having been to DLP, and been absolutely frozen both times i speak from experience :)

The best holiday i had with my daughter when she was small was in a caravan in Great Yarmouth, much cheaper than anywhere else and just a bucket and spade needed ! Now she's older, that doesn't wash i'm afraid ! It's Florida or else !

I agree that i would leave it a while yet. I would say minimum of about 4 years old before they would enjoy it enough to warrant the expense

Definitely agree with Meer53 he is way to young to warrant the expense of Disney, save the visit for in a few years time when he'll really appreciate it and be able to enjoy so many more of the rides and activities.

How about somewhere like Lanzarote, i bet the little fella would be more than happy playing on the beach November/December you looking at weather in the low 20's so not hot but pleasant, I echo the other's DLP is freezing in the winter.
  • Having just got back with a 6 mth old, 4 year old and DH I would echo the suggestions to wait. You will only be able to go on a handful of rides, there is a lot of hassle with feeding etc, and on my own I would have felt pretty lonely. How about seeing if a friend fancies going along (you could do babyswitch then) or wait a couple of years.

Agree with other posters, DLP can be freezing in December - we went in Dec 2010, and I can truthfully say I have never been so cold in my entire life!!! It was about -5 most days:eek:
I would also agree that the best age is around 3/4 to start taking them, we first took our daughter when she was nearly 4 and have been every year since, so do take him, but wait until he is a little older and will enjoy and remember it more.
