7" tablet display warning

I just bough a 7" 800x480, 16x9 tablet and it doesn't display correctly. I checked some other tablet makes and found some Archos and Arnova tablets have the same problem.

800x480 is actually 15x9 and phones such as the HTC Desire Z which has a 800x480 15x9 screen display correctly.

Presumably my tablet, a Scroll (other OEM Corby etc.) uses a similar Android version but with no compensation for a 16x9 screen. The incorrect displays show circular Android apps icons Browser, Download Music etc. as egg shaped with the tablet held vertically.

Portrait face pics look like they've gained pounds with the tablet horizontal or lost pounds with it vertically and neither is true.

The Scroll maker Storage Options isn't going to fix it, so buyer beware (ditto Archos and Arnova), if circles look like eggs it's a rogue tablet maker making a fast buck off a substandard product they've no intention of correcting.
