I was just browsing and noticed this TV on Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004S00CGK/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=electronics What am I missing...? A HD ready (so, half-HD!) TV which I can plug my computer into and watch iplayer, etc for less than £100. Sounds good to me...

It will have a very poor display panel, Digihome is a level down from Technica quality wise.
I'm assuming you have a laptop, so why not buy a widescreen monitor?

I just didn't realise you could get freeview HD ready TVs for less than £100 nowadays! I was quite surprised. We're moving into a new unfurnished flat so I am thinking that we might need something to watch films on. A larger monitor might be the answer but a TV would give me the option of freeview and of possibly buying a Wii in the future...

I bet the films will sound spectacular on whatever speakers they squeeze in there. I wouldn't want this as my main TV for any amount of time, and would rather squeeze in a 32" TV for free off Freecycle, or £20 on gumtree.

Really depends what you are after.

We brought a 19" Alba 2 years ago for DD bedroom (probably about the same quality) for about £130. it is located next to her 19" monitor now.

It is an OK TV to watch. If I use her PC I quite often watch the TV as I do other stuff using the PC.

It has a clear well defined screen, good colours/contrast and a reasonable sound. It is OK for COD on PS3, the sharper definition helps. Also good for DVD playback. Not used as a monitor but it does have a PC input and menu selection.

    Fine for catch up.

Would I want to watch it while sprawled out on a sofa 12 feet away probably not too small. Just shows what we come to expect these days, time was when a 14" CRT screen would have seemed decadent in a spare bed room..

    Thanks for the replies.

At first I was just wandering around the Internet wondering what I could get for around £100 but now I am more serious about getting something for our flat.

We won't be watching live TV but we will be watching quite a few films, Lovefilm, DVD and iplayer. Usually we use my laptop (15.5") but I'm thinking that it would be better to get a TV or monitor. My budget is around £100, going up to £125ish...

Is it better to get a TV or monitor...?

Is there any main difference now (in terms of connections) apart from the simple fact that I can plug a TV into an aerial and I can't do that with a monitor?

What are the kind of things I should look out for...? Thanks!

Just bought a 32" with built-in bluray for £300 from play.com, Kogan brand not great speakers but good screen. It's a 2nd tv for our bedroom so not too fussed about sound but can plug in surround sound if it becomes a problem :)
They do smaller ones too, good value!
