in Credit cards
Hello everyone, I'm new. Iv taken some time to look through the threads but I need some advice regarding my personal position. I used experian and my score is 937. I have no credit cards at the moment, and only have a mobile phone contract. My stepsister is doing her masters atm with the intention of getting a house when she finishes so shes working on her credit rating....she said she uses credit cards to improve her score. Id like to be able to ask her, but shes away at the moment, so its a no no. So I'm here! I really don't know that much about what I need to look for when getting a card, so if you can give me any tips or offer some advice I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance :snow_laug

Please look at the title of the thread. I am interested in improving my credit score. I have no interest in spending loads of money I don't have, I just want to use credit cards as a tool so that perhaps later on when I am ready to get a mortgage I won't struggle. Also, I am saving a percentage of my salary.

Just say you've been on experian and your score is excellent can I have one of your credit cards please.0 -
log on to First Direct internet banking and click on "apply online" , the next page will give an indication of whether you will be approved - "From the information we hold , you are eligible for a First Direct gold card"Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Should I apply for the most credit available to me? Would the credit card rather than the gold be enough to improve my rating alone? I have asked for 500 on the credit card....would this have a must smaller effect on my score than say the gold with 3000? Thanks0

Are they offering a gold card then ?
If you don't want a high limit then a £1,000 limit on the standard card would be respectable - £500 may look subprime , £3000 is the minimum for a gold card
If you do not intend to hold more than one credit card at the same time then I would opt for the gold cardHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Do most people on here have more than one card? I have no problem paying off my bills on time, so I am willing to take on as many cards as I can just to raise my profile score.0

can i ask why u want or need a fantastic credit score ?0

I just want a high score so it makes applying for things easier in the future. I figure I may aswell do it now before I need to buy a house for example.0
