How to Get Solvent Based Paint Off Carpet?

Options
I am using a Satinwood paint from a leading paint company on the hall bannisters and unfortunately it has dripped loads onto the carpet. It says you only need it 'Once' and once was enough to make me think I should have stuck with my gloss. I thought I could get this off with white spirit but found out I should only use warm soapy water. One can't keep mopping up paint spills immediately (as it advises) so it has dried into the carpet and I am now finding it impossible to remove. Now it has dried, using soapy water is proving useless and white spirit seems to make it worse. I am just spreading it all across the carpet leaving a white mark everywhere. It does say it is a solvent based paint. I am used to using gloss where you can get it off the carpets with white spirit without too much trouble but this Satinwood - well! Can anyone help with a good solution - literally?

Prochem Solvex is good, although you need to be careful with it as it's powerful stuff.

Test it on an inconspicuous spot first and proceed with a caution and follow the directions to the letter.

It can dissolve the glue used to hold the fibres to the backing if you use too much!

You should clean your carpet afterwards (With a machine) to remove any remaining solvex from the fibres.

Lots of white spirit and lift it off with clean cloths or kitchen paper.

    Best done whilst still soft.

If not wait till it is really hard and then scrape gently but vigorously at it with a sharp knife and "worry" it off/out.

Not as far as I can see. Paint on carpet which has dried effectively means that the carpet is a write off. So this advice will save OP future carpet write offs.

Thanks Leif, yes, the people on here are getting more and more rude and unpleasant (as I notice a couple of quotes are) which is not quite what we go on here for. Obviously, I am not stupid although some readers on here might think so but had I used my usual gloss non-drip paint I would not have experienced this as I never drip the paint usually. That is the problem with changing your paints. Thanks to Leif though for standing up for me knowing it can happen to anyone!

Thanks Grizzly1911, I will try that and thanks for your solution which I will try. I have also heard that vinegar (which is useful for a lot of things) can get off paint so I will try that and a friend also mentioned about using a blade but I suppose that is for when it has not been spread. Well, here goes ....!

I've got a little pot of stuff called paint away. I've used it and it worked well but only on little spots of paint. It works on dried up paint too. I can't remember where I got it may have been Betterware or Kleeneze but I'm sure you will get it over the internet.
