mastercard/natwest changed rules

Information only.

I do not normally read the updates that my credit card companies send me. However I decided to read this time. I think due to complaints about overcharging banks are looking for new ways to obtain money.

The important change to me, as I buy a lot over the internet is that if you now buy things from say America,or any non-sterling country Natwest is now going to charge you 1.2% of the purchase/postage costs to convert from sterling to another currency.

Hope this is of some use.

Does anyone have the exact wording of this? I dont understand how Natwest can charge you if the currency is converted at POS, e.g. you are billed in sterling from beginning?
In this instance, Natwest have nothing to do with the currency conversion so dont see what the extra charge is for?
