Pitching a tent in the rain
Comments

If its a rain shower wait, otherwise ensure the tent is the last item in the car and learn how to pitch it. Packing away in the rain is actually far worse than pitching!0

Get your hosepipe out a sprinkle hubby with a shower as he tries to put the tent up, chuck some buckets of of water over him too in case you have to cope with a deluge or flood.
Hmmm good points but there could be thunderstorms about so it might be best to see if you could borrow a tazor and zap him a couple of times with that as well.
Better to be prepared for all eventualities 0 0

Thanks for the advice although I'm not sure how much the hubby will appreciate being soaked and electricuted during the practice run
Hopefully it will be glorious sunshine and we won't need to worry about the rain but at least we'll be prepared for the worst.0

Tents are dead easy to pitch in the rain if you can put-up the outer skin first.
However, if you have a single skin tent, ditch it now and get a proper one unless you fancy dampness, cold and fungus.0

There is one rule and one rule only.
No alcoholic beverage or other subtances is permitted until your house is fit for habitation!martinthebandit wrote: »Actually, from experience, the rule should be
'The wife and kids should go to the shop and don't come back until I have got this (insert appropriate swear words here) tent up'
Far from it! - On our lot's family camping trips it is the kids job to keep the men doing the pitching well lubricated with a never ending succession of large nips of decent malt. Esp when certain bampots have brought a brand new and never before pitched tent, bought off of Ebay with no instructions - Arrrrrggggghhhhh! :mad:0

Invest in a double skinned tent that pitches outer first. We pitched our Vango Equinox this weekend in torrential downpours but the inside was nice and dry as it's outer pitch first. Having two people helps, as does a footprint as it it helps lay things out (and softens the ground). Some people used our other tent to pitch theirs inside, our marquee was used as well. So you might want to consider paling up to someone.
Pack the car so tent is on top and you have your waterproofs to hand.
Invest in rock pegs, those thin pegs you get with tents are useless. Also take a plastic mallet.
Never pack away the tent in the bag till it's try, just stick it in the boot and sort it out when you are home. You'll have to dry it off.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0
