This has historically been £30/month but there is a current offer from Worldpay:
Reduced Monthly Fee
MONTHLY FEE: £15
CREDIT CARDS: 3.95%
(2.45% IMA Fee, 1.5% processing fee)
UK DEBIT CARDS: 45p
(25p IMA Fee, 20p Processing fee)
FREE INTERNET TERMINAL
Fraud detection: 6p per transaction
Setup Fee: £200
You get a more professional looking interface than Paypal (no options to join Paypal and no funny issues when an existing or pending Paypal member email address is entered). But the fees are still pretty close to Paypal's.

That seems a really good deal, did you have to pay the £250.00 merchant set up fee or was that all included ?If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun:cool:

The monthly fee is good but the fees seem a little bit steep, mind you with a lot of places it depends on how many transactions you'll be processing per month. Have you checked out some of the banks to see what deals they have on as well, if you're processing lots of transactions then you may well find you can get a much better rate per itemIf you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun:cool:

I have been wanting to go the protx route for a while.
I have an abbey business account and you can sign up to streamline merchant account with abbey. It's x a month with transaction fees and then use protx. It always seemed a bit complex and like you were paying twice, once to streamline and then to protx.
Anyone with the abbey take online payments and let me know how they did it?
With barclays do you have to set up a business account then get a merchant account? How does it work? What do I need to do?
The whole business account, merchant account, then another party to process seems complex.
I would like to offer paypal still as so many people use it but offer something else.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks0 -
All you need is a business bank account and they transfer money into your account every 48 hours.Kind Regards

Thanks UKbill, I phoned barclays and they are quoting a £100 set up fee. I don't bank with them and this may be the reason. They also said to begin with there may be a lag time before I can get access to the money. I'm guessing this may be normal enough for a newish business and then they will descrease the time. Ignoring the setup fee and the lag time (which wouldn't be a problem for me), the percentages look great compared to others I have looked at.

Well I got my deal with saying a few words that im not letting on for nothing lol. But doesnt matter if your with barcays or not. Im not, im with lloyds tsb. I noticed with barclays if your nice the person can reduce your rate slightly, just ask. Your wont get that rate anywhere else. Barclays is always the best bet as they take 1 in 2 transactions in the UK.Kind Regards

I know the secret words, "pretty please". Chatting to them they are nice, I'll give it a shot and see what I can get. If you don't ask and all that. They do seem good. I also think I'm going the protx route with them.0
