hold on; ASK for instance have been running a prize which you can win just by using Ask. It could be that MSN are running a similar promotion. I think the things to look out for are 1. have you registered with the emailer. 2. does the email quote your name. I think if it is bona fide then their email will be intended to inform you you have won.
If it is an email that doesn't fulfil any of these criteria; asks for your details AFTER it has told you you have won or finally encloses a link which may take you heaven knows where, then you know you've got a bad un. There are loads of african scam emails and phishing emails but they are quite easy to spot.0 -
Link or no link, if you get an email saying you've won heaps of dosh (or have been specially selected to help move millions out of anywhere in Africa), almost certain it's an advance-fee fraud http://scotlandonsunday.scotsman.com/uk.cfm?id=258082003
You can lighten your spam by setting up outlook to "delete on server" any message from yahoo.com, hotmail.com and verizon.com (gets rid of 90% of the carp).0
