Just replaced my CD writer with a DVD writer and the Packard Bell CD RW's which worked fine on the old writer just don't want to know the new one. Is it a common problem re compatibility and Packard Bell CD's? Anyone else had this problem?

Hi
A bit more info would be useful. What Make/ Model of DVD writer have you just bought?
Do you mean you can't read back existing CD RW's or is it just a problem with burning?
Some models are notorious for only working with "branded" media others (Like my Liteon) will work with anything. Although I can't say I've ever used Packard Bell CD RW's.0 -
Sorry T_S,
Yes I guess I was expecting a bit of mind-reading!!!
It's a BTC (DRV 10080) DVD + and - R/RW Writer
The problem is with burning...the Packard Bell CD's are always rejected. Have no probs with Verbatim or even the real cheapies. Just a bit miffed cos I've got a pack of 10 that I can't use!
Was quite a cheap DVD writer but seems to work just fine for movies on DVD and music apart from the wretched P.B.'s
Was told that Ritek and Verbatim are good makes to look out for...would you agree?

HI Allexie,
Sorry I don't know your drive and couldn't find out anything with a quick google but certainly Ritek and Verbatim are good discs.
As it happens I'm using Verbatim CDR's at the moment.
I would try emailing Packard Bell and asking them if they know of any incompatability issues with there discs and your drive.
As you suspected in your initial post It could just be an compatability issue.
Good luck.0
