Sainsburys bank charging late fee even though i didnt receive statement.

Hi can any1 tell me if this can be done i rang up to explain that my statement was not received so i did not make payment but was told that i had to pay the £12 late payment fee.
They didnt want to listen to anything i had to say spoke to team manager and told she cant do anything said i had to write in to complaints dept any1 know if its worth doing that.

    You have nothing to lose by writing the letter but I would set up a Direct Debit for at least the minimum amount (ideally the full amount) each month to stop this happening again.

    They send them out and have to assume you have received it. If you dont its up to you to let them know before your payment is due.
    As said above, probably best to set up a DD, also sign up to online banking for it if they have it to keep an eye on it.

    I believe I have read on here before if you don't recieve a statement, you cannot be charged interest?

    I'm sure someone else will be able to confirm/deny this though

    Dont know where you saw this but its wrong. Even without the statement, which is not the CC companies fault has gone missing (we all love to hate them, but cant blame them for missing post unfortunately), there is still a debt outstanding which you've agreed to pay interest on.

    Thats definatley not true. Its the cardholders responsibility to make the payment each month, how are the credit card company to know if you haven't received your statement?
    Get a dd setup, then you'll not have to worry.
