Which blender?

Comments

  • No idea, but I've got a Kenwood chef with blender attachment which is fab. Prior to that I had a Kenwood food processor which had a blender attachment. Can you tell I'm a bit of a Kenwood fan lol

What do you want it for? I noticed you selected hand blenders. Usage will determine what is suitable. I would have thought a hand blender somewhat limited for general use.

I foolishly bought a Kenwood Kmix blender. Utter rubbish. If you put hot liquids into the jug, it shatters. You must wait 30 minutes or more for soups to cool to luke warm. It cannot blend tomatoes without leaving lumps. Even a few seconds of operation creates an ozone smell. There is no safety off when you remove the lid. The jug is very heavy. The top is almost impossible to get off, I struggled for ages, it is very very hard to remove. And some bits are made from a very cheap looking silver plastic including the buttons and the text on the buttons will rub off with use. Basically it is naff. It is an exercise in how not to design something.

My old cheapo Moulinex was far better. I could get exactly the desired consistency. Puree a curry sauce too long and it is vile. You have to do it just long enough. It did tomatoes in 10 seconds.

How often will you use it?

For infrequent use we bought a supermarket blender (maybe ASDA?) for about £5 and its been absolutely fine for making soups, pate etc.

Oh dear. The problem with questions like this is that you really need someone who has tried & tested all of those models and can then make an objective assessment of each of them.

Alternatively - thanks to robatwork - use an organisation that carries out this kind of assessment, like Which.

I would vote for Magimix - but then I've only ever bought Magimix blenders/processors and couldn't tell you how they compare to the others you've selected.
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)
