    Quick trawl of the Internet:

"Well I didn't buy from Motopoint in the end for the following reasons.

    1) The used cars are pretty much all imports (I thought they were UK on used ones)

    2) They were not able to give me details on the history or any of the cars. (i.e. could not tell me if it was private hire etc)

    3) They could not tell me if the cars had been serviced correctly for the warranty (looking at reviews on the net it is common to buy cars from car supermarkets and find out they are 2-5k miles overdue a service, which invalidates the warranty

    4) They would not even let me move the car 6foot until fully paid and signed that the car is ok. I am not signing that a car is 100% ok util I know it at least goes forwards/backwards and stops.

The first few points put me off, but I kept saying its cheap, then I got to point 4 and thought stuff it, I've worked too hard for the money to risk throwing it away"

Spend a little more get a lot of peace of mind!

Very good, but none of the above points are true.

    What about this one then:

"Looked at and road tested a Honda CRV Auto at Motorpoint Newport.Nice car but some of the spec was missing, asked the salesman why, he could not or did not want to say, he only said it came from a main dealer. that main dealer turned out to be an importer as the car came from Cyprus, but at no time were we told this even though the salesman had every oppurtunity to tell us, so be warned these people do not care what they sell you they only want your hard earned cash...."

Oh, so now they DO let you test drive cars before purchase?

    Make your mind up eh?

I've plenty of experience of Motorpoint. Yes, they do import some of their cars (as do loads of places, including, as you have pointed out, main dealers) but this isn't necessarily bad, and in my experience they are extremely open and honest about their cars.

Honestly, you're posting a load of misinformed tosh here.

No. But myself and family members have bought several cars there; and I think its only right to counter-argue when someone makes completely unjustified and ill-informed comments as Tiexen did above.

    Honest John says:
"Motorpoint's directors, David Shelton and Gary Warren, and I used to stand together on the auction floor nearly 20 years ago. They have taken that experience and incorporated it into Motorpoint's no-nonsense approach - buy stock as cheaply as possible, take a small profit and pass the rest on in big savings to the customer. Offering ‘nearly new' cars, independent imports and bulk-buys from manufacturers, Motorpoint has been at the forefront of providing great deals in the UK."

    Happy now?
  • point taken on Motorpoint!

Anyone got any other websites to use?

    Thanks
