lost driving licence and speeding fine- advice

my hubby got clocked speeding on motorway coming home from leeds on motorway, doing 59 in a 50 zone, the week previous we had some papers stolen and his paper driving licence was with these.

do we now have to apply for a new licence to get the points put on as I believe they dont do paper licences now, or can we just send his photo licence???

hope that makes sense as i feel like i am rambling:)

Similar happened to me. I was given fixed penalty notice for speeding. Standard £60 fine/3points. I could not find my paper driver's licence. Went to local police and told them. I was then told to apply to DVLA for replacement and that I now could not comply with the FPN. I was sent court documents and pleaded guilty in writing on the court form. Magistrates fined me £60 and 3 points(Phew) plus £30 costs but I'm told it could have been more.

So I guess the advice is tell the police your licence has been stolen.

If you apply on line for a replacement licence then the replies are sent out pretty quickly. I got mine within 10 days and it only cost £20. You can apply online via the link on this page:

    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/Motoringtransactions/BeforeyouapplyC/DG_067507

If he has received a Conditional Offer of Fixed penalty then he has 28 days within which to reply. DVLA aim to reply within 14 days so if he gets a move on there should be no problem :)

He will need to submit his photocard AND paper counterpart.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

Useful information H087. What messed me up was the "produce documents at a police station within 7 days"

You get a paper licence and a photocard, the points will go onto the paper licence, after 4 years you can have them removed.
